Wedding Speeches
Most people regard weddings as wonderful, fun-filled, joyous events and can't wait for the big day to arrive. There are however, a small cadre of souls who have been asked to speak at the wedding and it is the thought of these wedding speeches, the knee knocking, the sweating, the mind going blank that puts a damper on the festivities of the day for them. But wedding speeches can be a source of laughter, of tears, of heartfelt emotion, and expressed joy and happiness when they are done properly..........and the thoughts of jumping off a bridge soon vanish when you, the giver of wedding speeches, has control of the situation. Giving wedding speeches does not have to be torture.
And don't forget, the torture aspect of wedding speeches can spill over and envelope the audience of guests. They are essentially held captive for most of the day through etiquette, and for them to sit through a litany of wedding speeches that would turn anything living to stone; is just as much torture as what the givers of the wedding speeches are going through. But if you have prepared well, and have a good speech to deliver, and have practiced so that now you are confident..........then you can be the one to deliver the most marvelous of wedding speeches and have the audience eating out of your hands.
But one of the hardest parts of writing and presenting wedding speeches, is getting the speech down on paper the way you want it to sound and including all the relevant things you want to say. We may write something that would get a good grade from the English teacher, but it doesn't sound like us speaking...........it sounds contrived, or stiff, or one of those wedding speeches that someone who didn't know the wedding couple well, would give. So is there help out there for writing good wedding speeches?
There certainly is: There are piles of software available instructing you on how to prepare and write wedding speeches and then how to deliver wedding speeches. Check out the internet: There are loads of references for writing wedding speeches and many sites that have already prepared wedding speeches........all you do is modify them a little with your own thoughts.
But there is another method for help with writing wedding speeches, and that is to engage the services of a professional writer and have him/her draw up the speech for you. The way it works is; you have decided you want the services of a professional writer to put together your wedding speeches for you. The writer will hand you several drafts of wedding speeches for you to read and pick the style that best suits you, and after choosing one, the speech is finished.
Now that you have the wedding speeches in your hands, you want to make sure that this wonderful speech that you paid good money for someone to write, is delivered in such a way that the guests and the wedding party will always think of your speech as one of the best they've ever heard. And to get your wedding speech to that point, you must practice it over and over until you are comfortable with it and familiar with the lines included in it.
Take a small card with you when it is time to give the wedding speeches, and jot down key points that you want to remember to make during the wedding speeches.......sort of like a mini outline to refer to , to keep you on track.
And if you are totally prepared when it is time to give your wedding speeches, then there is little that can rattle you in the speech giving arena. Even if you have to change your speech a little bit because of other wedding speeches, it won't bother you because you came prepared and you have confidence in your ability to rise to the occasion. You know you can do it well and want to present one of the best wedding speeches of the day; so, go for it. Just don't forget the reason you are giving wedding speeches in the first place.........to wish the bride and groom much happiness and good fortune.........and you must raise your glass and drink a toast to them while doing so.
