Order Of Wedding Speeches
Tradition is an important part of life as we know it, and nowhere does tradition have more of a hold than in weddings and the order of wedding speeches. With anything that has meaning or is truly important to the majority of people in a society, there is a certain order that must be followed for the proper outcome. And a wedding is just such an occasion.
None of these traditions are set in stone, in fact they are everchanging. When you look back through time, many of the traditions we hold sacred today were totally unheard of or even scandalous when they were first introduced or changed way back in history. The order of wedding speeches is one example where it is not an all or nothing undertaking, but has been followed to the letter for so many years, that it seems to be permanent.
Only the strongest and those that could stand the test of time endured. Much perseverance was needed to keep traditions alive, and when you take a look at something like the order of wedding speeches, there is a small revolution in the making.
What happens decades down the line from here is a different matter when it comes to wondering if these wedding traditions we observe today will even be in existence or in the same order as now. Today, the traditional order of wedding speeches is that the father of the bride speaks first, then the groom, and then the best man. This order has not really been replaced, but it has been altered to fit the changing times.
If you are to be an invited speaker at a wedding, then it is important for you to know the order of wedding speeches, because some things have been altered a little and you should know if the traditional ways are being maintained or if the order of wedding speeches will be along a more informal vein. Nothing today is set in stone.
Your own speech can be touched upon by the formality or informality of the wedding itself. There are highlights you should bring up in one instance and maybe not in the other. But, if you are the father of the bride, the bridegroom, or the best man.........there are things you must include in your respective speeches whether the wedding is formal or not.
Surely there will always be changes in the order of wedding speeches just as there are changes in the wedding traditions themselves, but only the passage of time will reveal the answer. Until then, and until a firm tradition has been once more established, there will be a whole new generation of wedding ceremonies and so to will the order of wedding speeches evolve.
