Champagne Toast
The champagne toast is a very common occurrence these days happening at most weddings. Quite often there will be more than one champagne toast being given because this is the time when family and friends get to wish the new couple all the best and give them their best regards.
Most of the time, a few people have been asked to do the task of giving the champagne toast, just as some people would have been asked to give a wedding speech. This happens in a formal wedding usually, and depends greatly on the setup of the occasion.
Things may be more flexible if the wedding is a more informal affair, and if a guest wishes to stand up and speak, they may do so and will be able to give a champagne toast. Most wedding speeches are given after dinner before dessert, or just before the dinner itself.
There are certain key points during the wedding reception when a champagne toast may be given, and these points vary depending on the traditions held dear by the family. If you do want to give a champagne toast and you are not sure when the best time would be to do that, then just wait until someone else starts off the toasting.....there's always someone who will start it and you just follow suit.
Don't ramble on and on and on and put the guests to sleep or bored to tears. Keep the toast short and sweet and to the point. Say your piece, raise the glass, and drink your toast.
Remember, especially if you are the one giving the champagne toast, don't forget to drink to your own toast. Some people get so freaked out at speaking in front of a crowd, that they forget to drink from the glass.
It's not the end of the world, it's just a wedding. If you feel your knees turning to rubber and a panic attack taking shape, just because you have to give something as small as a champagne toast; breathe deeply for a few minutes, put a smile on your face, and go for it.
Since this is a champagne toast, make sure that the toast is given after the bubbly stuff has been popped. In a very short time, that fake smile you pasted on your face to get through this speech will fade, and your natural smile will take over, because when all is said and done, you'll find you're having a pretty darn good time.
